In May 2024 Sports England launched it's sustainability strategy, Every Move, which recognises the urgent need for the sport and physical activity sector to take action and make a difference amongst society. More than £45 million of National Lottery funding has been granted to tackle this and make the sports sector greener and more sustainable.

"When I was first tasked with sorting out ‘Sustainability’ at Newcastle United Foundation, I had no idea where to start or knowledge of the topic. The Investors in the Environment programme and its dedicated team of advisors have supported us every step of the way" Steve Mack, Head of Projects
iiE offers more than accreditation, supporting you with practical tools, guidance and recognition to help you move forward with confidence.

Organisations are audited against a defined set of environmental criteria to assess how they are performing. Following the audit, a written report is provided that outlines the results and highlights areas for improvement, along with practical advice on next steps.

A dedicated iiE Advisor will be assigned to mentor and coach your team throughout your membership journey to achieve your organisation’s accreditation and sustainability goals. They will support your team through tailored advice, support calls, and training.
"The appointment of ‘green champions’ across the organisation, who have completed bespoke iiE training, has also helped Rise ensure environmental sustainability is considered and promoted across the organisation, through consistent messaging and ‘check-and-challenge’ behaviour.”
Rebecca Stokoe, Environmental Sustainability Development Manager
“Earning iiE Green is a proud moment for our team. It validates the everyday changes we've made; how we travel, meet, use data and design facilities. It keeps us accountable to our 2035 net-zero goal and it proves that the projects we deliver can leave a lighter footprint for the communities they serve.”
John Leaver, Marketing and Frameworks Director
